Hey guys - I decided to start a blog on here! First thing you should know: all blog posts will be written and shared by Sara Almen. Come here for all things track and field! I will be sharing track news, results, meet info, workouts, some of my own training philosophy, photography, and ALSO... tips and tricks that I have discovered through my experiences as an elite track and field athlete!
There are various reasons why I decided to start this blog. As a lover of track and field, I want to bring together a community of those who share that same passion. If you have ever been to Hayward Field (RIP) for a track meet, you know what I'm talking about when I say that track fans LOVE track. So... as I mentioned, I will be posting all the latest and greatest news in the track community, meet info for meets in the Los Angeles area so those looking will be in the loop, what it takes to be a collegiate athlete, some of my own workouts and advice, nutrition tips, and my personal experiences throughout my own journey. My goal is to have open dialog for others to be able to share their experiences as well - whether those are positive or negative.
As you may or may not know, I began my coaching career two years ago immediately after concluding my collegiate career. I love coaching because I am passionate about helping young people to achieve their goals and to become the best that they can be. Track and field gives me a great platform to be able to do that... to help kids and young adults to develop in all aspects of life - physically, mentally, emotionally, to grow their character, develop relationships, explore their faith, and to become the best version of themselves.
My hope through doing this is that I am able to (in no particular order):
1. Inform the track community (and non-track community) about track and field
2. Provide young athletes with a support system
3. Inspire athletes to always strive for THEIR best
4. Help guide the upcoming generation through their journey
Going forward, my goal is to make one post per week. I also want to open my blog up to suggestions. Please email me at email@example.com regarding any questions, recommendations, concerns, etc. you may have!
Thanks for reading and please stay tuned for my next post!
